DAF Giving Questions
What is a donor-advised fund (DAF)?
A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving account that allows you to contribute assets, receive an immediate tax deduction when eligible, and recommend grants to nonprofit organizations like Hearts of Patriots over time.
How do I recommend a grant from my DAF?
Contact your DAF provider, such as Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or another sponsoring organization, and recommend a grant to Hearts of Patriots. You will typically need our legal name and EIN. You can also use the DAF giving tool on this page to begin your recommendation.
Can I recommend a grant to a specific program?
Yes. You may recommend that your grant support a specific Hearts of Patriots program or fund. Please include the program name with your grant recommendation. You may also choose to give where your support is needed most.
How will I recieve my tax reciept
Your DAF provider will issue the tax receipt for your original contribution to your donor-advised fund. Because the grant is distributed from your DAF, Hearts of Patriots will send you an acknowledgment and thank-you for your generosity, but not an additional charitable tax receipt.
